Hey guys!
How are you all today? I hope you’re all doing well, and you
like this new post. I still can't believe that it's the last day of March already! This month seems to have flown by! As always, if you would like to see any polishes reviewed,
just let me know and I’ll get right on it for you guys!
Today I have an OPI polish for you. My reviews for OPI’s
tend to get the most views, so I’m assuming you guys like OPI. Haha. This
particular polish is really pretty. I saw my favourite blog post swatches of
the Gwen Stefani collection, and I saw this and drooled, and then rushed online
to buy it, and I am honestly so stoked that I did! This polish is called ‘4 in
the Morning’ (I’m assuming that’s a Gwen Stefani lyric or song title or
something. I’m not a Gwen fan), and it is a beautiful black with a satin finish,
and it is meant to be worn without top coat. This polish literally looks like
black leather on your nails, so I’m slightly obsessed with it. Now, if you
don’t know what a satin finish is, it’s basically a matte but with a tiny bit
more of a glossy sheen. If you put a matte and a satin side by side, you’d be
able to tell the difference. I was so excited when this polish landed in my
mailbox, so I tried it out straight away. However, I am slightly disappointed
with it, and I’ll let you know why.
This polish does have some great points, even though I just
mentioned that I was slightly disappointed with it. One great thing is it’s
drying time. It’s so quick! I loved how quickly it dried. Another good point is
how versatile it is. I mean, black goes with everything, so having it on your
nails makes it super versatile. The formula was good, and as long as you use thin
coats, application is easy, and it’s opaque in two coats. However, the thing
that most disappointed me with this polish was the wearability. This polish
really does not wear well. I put it on Friday afternoon, and by the time I went
to bed on the Friday night, it had chipped quite severely. I continued to wear
it over the weekend, but it just chipped so much. I feel like this polish would
be great for a night out, but not for a longer period of time. I actually did
my swatches on the Saturday morning, and I didn’t want to show you the chipped
polish, so I attempted to touch it up. It doesn’t look too bad in the natural
light photos, but in the sunlight photos, you can quite obviously see the touch
ups, so sorry about that.
In the sunlight, it looks so pretty! Please ignore my attempts at touching it up.
Natural light!
Overall, this polish wasn’t as great as I was expecting. The
formula and colour aren’t bad, but the wearability of this polish is so
disappointing, and it lets down the polish. The leather look, black satin is
something that does look awesomely cool on the nail, but with it chipping in
just a few hours it isn’t worth it, in my opinion. I’m probably going to
continue wearing it, but it won’t be for an extended period of time, it’ll
probably just be for a night out or something along those lines. However, if
you don’t tend to wear nail polish for an extended period of time, and you’d
just like something to wear for a brief period of time, I’d definitely
recommend it because it is one of the coolest looking polishes I have in my
collection.
