Essie - In the Cab-ana Review

Hey guys!

I hope you’re all doing well! I’m really not enjoying school at the moment, so taking refuge in writing blog posts for you guys, and dreaming about the holidays and all the pretty nail polish that I can wear is helping slightly. Haha. I think the thing I’m most excited about leaving school is the fact that I can wear polish WHENEVER I WANT!

For you guys today, I have a pretty Essie polish for you called ‘In the Cab-ana’. I’m pretty sure this came from one of Essie’s resort collections a few years back, but I’m not 100% sure. Anyway, it’s a super pretty summery blue colour with a crème finish. I really do love crèmes, so this one I am absolutely in love with. It looks BEAUTIFUL in the bottle. Don’t you agree?

Ain't it purrrrdy?

Now this polish, I was actually surprised with. I really did not expect it to be as good as it is! It has a really good formula and application is super easy, which I love. I mean, really, who wants to deal with a gross formula and hard application? That’s no fun. This colour is opaque in two coats, which is perfect for this polish. I thought I’d need at least three, so I was really pleasantly surprised with how opaque this is! The drying time also isn’t too bad, so that’s also a plus. However, unfortunately, this polish does have a few negative points. One of these being the finish. Unfortunately it doesn’t dry super glossy, so top coat is definitely needed for a glossy finish. I find this kind of disappointing because I really do love this colour and I really do love glossy finishes, so that kinda sucks, but I’d probably just use top coat over the top anyway to make it last longer, so I guess it’s not that much of a big deal. Another disadvantage with this polish is the infamous blue staining. Anyone else who’s a nail polish geek, also knows how pesky blue polishes can be, this one definitely fits into that category. The only way to combat this is BASE COAT. Please if you wear blue polishes, I’d really recommend base coat. In my swatches, I actually didn’t  bother with base coat, so it’s probably nowhere near as bad with base coat compared to with base coat. But next time I wear this polish, even if I’m just quickly swatching something, base coat is a requirement.

Natural light

Sunlight. So in love with this!

Overall, even though this polish does have a few drawbacks, I still really love it. It’s such a pretty colour and it makes me feel so happy. It’s a weird thing I love. Bright colours on my nails instantly put me in a good mood. Slightly weird, I know, but whatever. Haha. If you do choose to get this polish, the only recommendation I have is a top coat and base coat. And as usual, if there are any polishes you guys want to see reviewed on here, just let me know. I promise I don’t bite! Haha.
