Hey guys! Hope you're all doing well and have a good couple of days. I hoped to have this up last Friday but I just ran out of time. It's a fun post though, so it's worth the wait. Today I have half of a really fun Essie collection which was released in the US in February (I think). It's called Comfy in Cashmere and they all have a finish that Essie call "Cashmere Matte", which is basically just a satin matte finish. I love matte polishes, so this collection was right up my alley. I picked up half of the collection, so here are the ones I purchased. First up, we have Coat Couture. Coat Couture is a purpley grey colour with a cool blue shimmer running through it. The shimmer is prominent in it, which I LOVE. It takes two coats to be opaque and dries pretty quickly. It has great coverage with just the one coat, but you definitely need two. It self levels really well for a polish which dries quickly. This one was the one I was most looking forward to wearing, and I managed to find it when I was over in America in July and I just about passed out. It's so amazing. Check out the swatches below.
Next up, we have the namesake of the collection, Comfy in Cashmere. Comfy in Cashmere is a really cool light brown with a purple shimmer running through it. Just like Coat Couture, the shimmer is pretty prominent. It also takes two coats to get opaque and it dries pretty quickly. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. I wasn't too excited by it when I bought it, but I knew I'd regret it if I didn't buy it, and boy, was I right. I swatched this one and fell head over heels in love with it. Once I finished swatching, I put this one back on and wore it as a full manicure. It's so gorgeous, you guys.
Lastly, I have the first one I purchased, Just Stitched. It's a gorgeous pale pink with a slight blue shimmer running through it. The shimmer is much more hidden in this one than the other two, but it's still really pretty. It took three coats to get what you see in my swatches, but it was still a little streaky. I found Just Stitched hard to work with because the self level wasn't very good, so you had to try and do it yourself and I found that quite challenging. It did have quite good dry time, which was a plus. I quite like how this could be considered a neutral while it's not a neutral. Check out my swatches below.
As someone who LOVES matte polishes, this collection is absolutely incredible. These polishes are meant to be worn without top coat to achieve the matte look, but if you prefer to put top coat on, go right ahead. One thing about these cashmere mattes is how they dry. They dry so smoothly and they feel incredible. I kept touching my nails because I thought they dried down with the coolest texture. I know they've just recently released this collection in Australia, and Essie New Zealand and Australia tend to be closely linked, so we may be getting this soon here in New Zealand, but I'm not 100% sure. If not, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find these on eBay.
