Hey guys,
I hope you've all had a good few days and are ready to read this next, rather text heavy post!
This was Essie's Summer collection for this year and the colour range made my heart happy. I did only get half of the collection, but I'm super happy with the three I did get. I bought all of these when I was in the US in July because I knew that Essie in New Zealand didn't tend to release the summer collections here, just the neons. Unluckily, that was reversed this year, so I had to buy the other neons online. But yes, if you're a New Zealander, and happen to like these colours, you can find them at Farmers and Life Pharmacy now. The three polishes I picked up were Chillato, Salt Water Happy and Sunset Sneaks.

Bottle shots. from left to right, Chillato, Salt Water Happy, Sunset Sneaks.
First up, we have the polish I'm actually wearing right now- Chillato. This is a light green creme with very strong yellow undertones. When I first saw the swatches of this, I thought it was such a gross colour, but then I kept seeing the bottle everywhere in America and fell so hard in love with it's uniqueness, so I bought it, and man, do I love this one. Unfortunately, the formula isn't the greatest. It's really streaky, and it's self level is practically non existent. It's got a thin formula but it doesn't pool in your cuticles, which I'm impressed with. It does require four coats to be opaque, which sucks, but I love the colour too much to be bothered by that. With Chillato, you probably want to wait until the last coat is completely dry before you put on the next one, because this polish pulls itself up. It may be easier to apply this with Essie's wider international brush than the skinny North American one. Check out the swatch below:
Next up, we have the polish I used for my fourth of July manicure- Salt Water Happy. Salt Water Happy is a really nice light blue creme. It has a great formula. It was super easy to work with and apply. It was completely opaque in two coats and it was just really nice to wear. I can't wait to wear it again this summer. Check out my swatch below:
Lastly I have Sunset Sneaks for you. This is a really cool coral/red creme colour. This was originally on my list to buy, but then I saw it in person and decided I could pass on it. Then, I saw it on it's own without the other colours in this collection and I was all "OKAY. I NEED IT." and bought it. I have no self control when it comes to nail polish. This is super easy to work with. Two coats and it's opaque. Unfortunately, it stains, but I reckon I'll just deal with it, because this is quite possibly my favourite Essie red EVER. Big claim, but it's just so good. I can't wait to try it on my toes this summer too. Check out my swatch below:
As I mentioned before, in New Zealand, these are available at Farmers and Life Pharmacy now. This collection is super pretty and I'm so impressed with how well these colours all fit together as a whole. Have you picked up any of the polishes from this collection, or do you plan to?
